The new Primo release  delivers users faster performance, an improved search experience, virtual shelf browsing, and further enhancements to OPAC.

Version 4.5 of Primo has been released, bringing with it a host of new features. You can find out more about the enhancements  in our press release but here are a few of my personal highlights:

My favourite addition to Primo is the expansion of the “Virtual Browse” feature. Virtual Browse lets users “browse” the library’s collections by title, author or call number, giving them the experience of being in the library wherever they are. Primo now displays a virtual bookshelf and enables patrons to browse forward and backward through items in the library’s local collections. I remember from my days as a student just how often I found invaluable resources by browsing the shelf I had just taken a book from. Giving users the chance to explore the library in this way from wherever they are will expose them to more of the resources the library has to offer and reveal additional insights that will help them with their research.

Another brilliant feature of version 4.5 is the introduction of sliders to narrow down a search by date. This will make searching and filtering much easier for users; I wish this technology had been around in my student days!
These are just two of my personal highlights from Primo 4.5. I am eager to understand yours! Please send me them via email.
