The current coronavirus pandemic has presented higher education institutions with many challenges.

At Ex Libris, the campusM team continues to be dedicated to doing everything we can to help our customers through these difficult times.

To this end, over the past few months we reached out to our community and conducted more than 30 in-depth conversations to see how they are meeting the demands that they are currently facing and if there is anything we can do to assist them.

What we discovered sheds light on how institutions are addressing the specific challenges of our time.

Key Challenges for Higher Education

During our conversations with the higher education community, we were able to identify several key themes and topics.

The 5 main challenges those we talked with faced were:

1. Preparing for the unknown.

2. Delivering effective learning and teaching.

3. How best to support students.

4. The challenges of a socially distanced campus.

5. Sustaining the business of education.

Many institutions commented that in general, they feel they are able to meet the immediate challenges, but there was an acknowledgement that the uncertainty regarding what the next 6-24 months holds is causing more serious concerns.

If you’re interested in learning more about what is concerning the higher education community, the full report is available for you to download.
