Empower your library

MARCit!

MARCit!, the Ex Libris MARC enhancement service, is an optional service available to all SFX® and MetaLib®/SFX customers. With MARCit!, libraries can capitalize on the holdings information for e-journals already present in their SFX KnowledgeBase.

MARCit! provides libraries with the full MARC information for their e-journal collection and enables them to offer this information to their users where needed-in the library catalog, local databases, or other contexts.

Why Choose MARCit!?

The Ex Libris MARCit! service is the ideal solution for some of the most complex problems that libraries have faced since the debut of electronic journals, particularly large, dynamic aggregated collections. After subscribing to MARCit!, your library will quickly make the service an essential part of your overall bibliographic creation and maintenance cycle. With the automation provided by MARCit! and regular Ex Libris updates, librarians no longer have to spend valuable time handling multiple, duplicate records and maintaining constantly changing e-journal information. The outcome is a simpler, more cost-efficient workflow.

To enhance library journal lists, MARCit! uses an extensive repository of over one million of the highest quality bibliographic serial records, including Library of Congress CONSER records. Ex Libris staff update this repository on an ongoing basis as part of the KnowledgeBase service. With this unparalleled database, a library can automatically upgrade its electronic journal holdings where it matters most: the library catalog.

MARCit! and the Library OPAC

With MARCit!, a library catalog can truly serve as the central repository of bibliographic data for an institution's users. The library e-collection, including e-journals purchased directly from the publisher or through any intermediate party, becomes an integral part of the library catalog. Patrons can now access the full list of electronic holdings-and also choose the attributes by which they want to search. With MARCit! supporting their search, patrons can rapidly obtain the information that they need.
